Bone Marrow Transplants We Perform

As one of the best hospitals for Bone Marrow Transplants in Faridabad, Delhi NCR, India, we offer both types of bone marrow transplants based on the patient’s condition and treatment needs. Each transplant is carefully planned to ensure safety, comfort, and long-term recovery.

  • Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant: This procedure uses the patient’s own healthy stem cells, usually in cases like multiple myeloma or lymphoma, minimising risks of rejection and speeding up recovery.
  • Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant: In this type, healthy stem cells are taken from a matched donor, commonly used for conditions like leukaemia, thalassemia, and aplastic anaemia.

FAQs

Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) is a treatment used to replace damaged or diseased bone marrow with healthy stem cells to restore normal blood cell production.
Several tests are done, including HLA typing, CBC (Complete Blood Count), and infection screening to ensure the patient and donor are compatible and healthy for transplant.
The BMT-related blood tests check for blood cell counts, infections, and compatibility between patient and donor, especially HLA matching for allogeneic transplants.
BMT is used to treat blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, as well as conditions like thalassemia, aplastic anemia, and certain immune system disorders.
In leukemia, BMT is often used after chemotherapy to replace diseased bone marrow with healthy cells, helping restore normal blood production.
For conditions like aplastic anemia or sickle cell disease, BMT helps replace the faulty marrow so the body can make healthy blood cells again.

There are two main types:

  • Autologous BMT, where the patient’s stem cells are used.

  • Allogeneic BMT  where healthy cells come from a matched donor, often a sibling or unrelated volunteer with a compatible match.

The process involves giving high-dose chemotherapy (sometimes radiation), followed by infusion of healthy stem cells, similar to a blood transfusion. These stem cells travel to the bone marrow and start producing new, healthy blood cells.
Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad is one of the leading centres for Bone Marrow Transplant in Delhi NCR with over 300+ successful BMTs, advanced transplant infrastructure and expert haematologists.
