Dysphagia creates problems in swallowing. It affects the gastroesophageal junction, pharynx, oesophagus, and oral cavity. Issues like malnutrition, dehydration, aspiration pneumonia, deteriorated general health, chronic lung disease, and choking can result from dysphagia. Adults with dysphagia may also find eating or drinking to be boring, less enjoyable, embarrassing, and/or socially awkward.
