WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

 

 

Free Oral & Throat Cancer check up camp, on the eve of WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY at Sarvodaya Hospital, sec 8 on Sunday, 30th may 2010.

 

More than 100 patients, residents of Faridabad, ballabgarh were screened at the camp.

 

World no tobacco day falls on May 31st and the day is celebrated to create awareness against the ill effects of tobacco. Dr. Ravi Bhatia, Dr.Sachin Gupta and Dr Varun Randhawa conducted the overall check up of people. Nurse and support staff of the hospital was also present on the spot for advice and help. People were also given free medical consultancy on various diseases. The doctors also talked about the dangerous effects of tobacco

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sudeeep Raina, chief cancer specialist, Batra Hospital, New Delhi said, that tobacco affected all portions of the body. It causes lung cancer, heart attack and peptic ulcer. He said even the people who are sitting by the side of smoker can have bad effects of tobacco.

Dr Rakesh Gupta, of Sarvodaya Hospital said that youngsters being the soft target should understand the ill effects of tobacco and help themselves in saving lives and health. And made the people aware about addiction and bad effects of tobacco.

 

 

In addition to damage to personal health, tobacco use also results in severe societal costs like reduced productivity and health-care burden, environmental damage and poverty of the families. Statistics show that the degree and cost of destruction caused by tobacco use surpass the returns generated by tobacco production and its consumption in terms of revenue and employment

 

 

Doctors at Sarvodaya Hospital were successful in the spreading the message that 'Tobacco Kills!'
