OPEN HEART SURGERY WITH SMALL INCISION
On 19th may 2010, a press conference was held at Sarvodaya Hospital Sec- 8 to discuss the successful case of Open heart surgery with small incision done at Sarvodaya Hospital under the guidance of Cardiac surgeon, Dr. SHAILESH JAIN (MCh.) on a 40 year old patient named, keshav.
Dr. Shailesh Jain explored the advantages of Minimally Invasive Approach as:-lesser requirement of blood transfusion, early recovery and patient can be discharged within 2-3 days and is allowed to take orally immediately after the surgery and is able to walk after 4-5 hours of surgery . To limit the trauma to the chest and to achieve a pleasing cosmetic result.
As compared to conventional midline sternotomy approach in which patient take 24-36 hrs to take orally and is allowed to walk after 3 days of surgery and is discharged after 10 days
